Remember that in case of an accident, the boat first lies on its side, and then turns upside down. It is pointless to climb onto a turned boat, it is unstable and will inevitably topple over. If you do not know how to swim, do not lose self-control: grab the boat from the bow or stern and, with your hand, feet, try to bring it to the shallow place. An overturned boat can save several people; You only need to gently hold onto the stern or nose of the boat, plunging into the water to the chin. If the boat overturned on the river edge, hold onto the boat and wait for the nearest shoal.

 

With the onset of winter on fishing, the first ice is very dangerous. It is not surprising to be in the water. Therefore, we must wait until it acquires the necessary strength. On ice, you can move freely if its thickness is 4-5 cm. Thin ice crunches under your feet like a parquet that has cracked. If the surface of the ice is not covered with snow, you can observe how radial cracks diverging in all directions are formed under the feet. If there are also ring cracks on the ice, it means that its strength is at the limit and it can break at any moment.

Milky, white, ice is twice as weak as the transparent one. It forms during the frosty weather with snowfalls and is a frozen snowflake, such ice breaks without a warning crackle. The frosty ice - the snow that has frozen during the blizzard - is even more unstable. Sites of such ice must by all means be bypassed.

It happens that after severe frosts a long thaw occurs, the ice becomes unstable, broken by the wind, refers to the shore. There are formed his disorderly heaps. When the ice turns colder, the ice floes unevenly, and sometimes they are only fastened with thin fresh ice. These places are especially dangerous, since the ice breaks suddenly, and the ice floes turn upside down.

The strength of ice decreases sharply with increasing temperature. For example, the strength of ice for bending at a temperature of 0 ° C is 10-12 times less than at a temperature of minus 5 ° C. In stable frosty weather, ice with a thickness of 4-5 cm can withstand one person; thickness of 8 cm - two people standing next to each other. Small groups of 5-7 people can be collected on ice, if its thickness is not less than 12 cm.

In most parts of the country, cars leaving for the ice, except for those designated for traffic, are strictly prohibited. On the cars "Zhiguli", "Zaporozhets" and "Moskvich" you can move on ice at least 15 cm thick, on the "Volga" - at least 20 cm (we are talking only about clear ice).

For access to the ice, choose areas that are not covered with snow and located on the shallows. On the first ice, do not hurry, check the path ahead in front of you. Do not go near the reeds and snags - about them the ice is weaker.

Hearing a warning rush of ice, do not stop: do not tear your feet off the ice surface, step back, and if there is a known reliable area near the front, go forward as quickly as possible.

Do not walk on the weak ice in single file: it happens that the person following falls through. Increase your attention when driving on snow-covered ice - it's easy to get into the rut, barely covered with ice film and powdered with snow.

Spring ice is also cunning, does not forgive the slightest oversight. With the same thickness, it is several times weaker than the winter one. As the temperature rises, the ice thaws from above and below, especially in the current. Ice is very dangerous in the thickets of reeds, cattails, driftwood and flooded shrubs: it does not stand the angler and breaks suddenly, without crackling.
